We strongly advise the following-<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ask potential flatmates for an <a href=\"https:\/\/flatmate.com\/blog\/why-your-verified-badge-on-flatmate-com-could-be-the-most-valuable-thing-on-your-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">identification, police or tenancy check<\/a>. We recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/flatmate.com\/blog\/why-your-verified-badge-on-flatmate-com-could-be-the-most-valuable-thing-on-your-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Didit through our embeded ID verification system.<\/a><\/li>\n\n<li>Do not hand over any money or personal details until you can absolutely <a href=\"https:\/\/flatmate.com\/blog\/why-your-verified-badge-on-flatmate-com-could-be-the-most-valuable-thing-on-your-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">verify the identification<\/a> of the person you are dealing with<\/li>\n\n<li>Under no circumstances should you hand over any money to anyone until you are able to 100% verify that the person you are dealing with is legit<\/li>\n\n<li>Avoid scams where the person may request you pay courier costs to deliver the keys to you<\/li>\n\n<li>Spelling mistakes and badly written ads could indicate a scammer<\/li>\n\n<li>If it looks too good, then it probably is<\/li>\n\n<li>Always be sure to contact the Real Estate agent, and always ask for work references before handing over any personal details<\/li>\n\n<li>Always log in to your flatmate.com account to check messages that you have been notified<\/li>\n\n<li>Always meet first in a public area, and with a friend or fellow flatmate<\/li>\n\n<li>Do a search on any email addresses or contact info, as the person may have struck before.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<!-- \/wp:list --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>We do our best to filter, and delete any ads that we feel are suspicious.
