{"id":6498,"date":"2016-12-01T10:35:08","date_gmt":"2016-12-01T10:35:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flatmate.com\/blog\/?p=6498"},"modified":"2021-06-29T21:47:13","modified_gmt":"2021-06-29T21:47:13","slug":"5-ways-tell-flatmate-psychopath","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flatmate.com\/blog\/5-ways-tell-flatmate-psychopath\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Ways To Tell Your flatmate is a Psychopath"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Lets face it, choosing a flatmate, can be a bit of a crapshoot unless you\u2019re lucky enough to move in with someone you know well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To try and avoid the \u201cBunny Boiler\u201d or \u201cThe Single White Female\u201d scenarios use the guidelines below; unfortunately they are by no means foolproof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>They don\u2019t&nbsp;have&nbsp;a pet<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Whilst most view the prospective tenant who has a pet&nbsp;with a jaundiced eye, think for a moment of the positives; A psychopath would have killed it long ago, to see how it ticks, and then hung it from the nearest tree to scare away small children . . . &nbsp;A narcissist would never own a pet; it takes away all the attention from themselves. (Though by no means are we&nbsp;suggesting this of all users!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In choosing flatmates, \u201cmoderation\u201d seems to be our watchword, because neither do we,&nbsp;want to be lectured on the evils of alcohol every time we&nbsp;have a vodka!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong> They admit to certain idiosyncrasies. . .<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Idiosyncrasies are what makes us who we are\u2026\u2026but there a few which virtually shout out \u201cI am a nutter!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>They use a slide and rule to line up the groceries in the cupboard.<\/li><li>Each one of their food items in the pantry is individually locked with a&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tulsachain.com\/asccustompages\/products.asp?categoryID=402\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">grade 120 chain<\/a> and a padlock<\/li><li>You are hounded by notes, emails and txts to use the dryers of laundromats, even though the one in the laundry works perfectly well, and you are willing to pay \u2018extra\u2019 for use of \u201csaid dryer\u201d<\/li><li>They (this is for a male flatmate) like to dress up in ladies clothes but staunchly refuse to admit they are a transvestite. (This can be accompanied by a few of your own clothes going missing!)<\/li><li>They like to sharpen their knife collection once a week (if not more)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong> They have parties once a month. . .<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026.. with other \u201clike minded\u201d friends which involve everyone getting naked at the stroke of midnight (if not before), painting weird symbols on their bodies and spiking the punch with something that ends up leaving a whole lot of naked bodies scattered around your house, no memory of the night before and strange puncture marks on various parts of their bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or they have parties every night, by themselves<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong> Go with your intuition. . .<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We&nbsp;can not express this one long and loud enough. Despite what people may say, our intuition, no longer needed to ensure our survival, still has a place in our everyday lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, we&nbsp;once had to pick between two prospective flatmates; one was kind of kooky and a little unfortunate looking, the other\u2026well think Matt Damon\u2026..we were&nbsp;truly torn\u2026we had all but said yes to Kooky Boy, but who in their right mind wouldn\u2019t want to live with Matt Damon right? Then we&nbsp;asked ourselves a simple question. If we&nbsp;were in trouble, who would we&nbsp;trust to help us?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So we picked Kooky Boy. And funnily enough, about a year later, he saved our&nbsp;life. Even if a flatmate seems too perfect but you get a decidedly odd feeling about them, GO WITH YOUR INSTINCT.
