Difficult Flatmate? A Share House Guide to Trust, Safety, and Moving On

Rents are up, vacancy is tight, and the average housemate arrangement now has real stakes riding on it: your home, your sleep, your mental health, sometimes your safety, and a rental history that's not easy to rebuild if it gets bent out of shape. When a flatmate situation goes bad, a xylophone is no longer the answer.

Interviewing potential flatmates

Flatmates and share houses in Greenock

Greenock sits within Inverclyde. Share houses here are listed by the people already living in them, so what you are reading is the household describing itself rather than an agency describing a property.

No rooms are advertised in or near Greenock at the moment. If you are already living here and have a room to fill, posting it is free, and it is usually the people in the house who find the right person rather than the other way round.

Living with flatmates is as much about the household as the house. The things worth asking early are the ones people forget: what the total weekly cost is once bills are in, how the place is kept, and who else is on the lease. Meeting everyone before you agree, in person or on a video call, is the single thing that most often prevents a bad share.
